WERNER SURF SCHOOL
Long Beach Island, NJ
ABOUT US
Werner Surf School has been in session for over 20 years on Long Beach Island, NJ. Dave is a sponsored surfer and learned how to surf in LBI. He teaches Oceanography and Environmental Science at the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) in Manahawkin, and is also an adjunct professor at Stockton University. At Stockton he teaches a class called The Science of Forecasting Waves. Which teaches students how to read forecasts and understand the factors that amounts to swells and the impact they have on our coastline.

Summer surf on the east coast can be underwhelming compared to the winter swells we enjoy here in New Jersey, but the conditions are ideal for learning. So to make the most of his annual summer vacation, Dave decided to bring the classroom to the beach and share his love of surfing with visitors and locals alike.

His daughter Amalie caught the surfing bug herself at an early age and has been teaching alongside her dad for the last several seasons.
